Black Button Distilling’s Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey was named the Best Whiskey in New York State at the 2021 Heartland Whiskey Competition, as well as Best in Class for Bourbon Whiskey in a tie with Casey Jones Distillery in KY. Distilled from New York State corn, wheat, rye and malted barley, Black Button’s Single Barrel Straight Bourbon has an easy finish of charred oak, caramel, and vanilla. Hand selected for its perfect nose, taste, mouthfeel, and complexity; each bottle of this bourbon comes from an individual charred oak aging barrel.

The Heartland Whiskey Competition is a biennial, blind-tasting judging event that is sanctioned and supervised by the American Craft Spirits Association. ACSA delineates specific entry criteria consistent with its stewardship of this and other spirits competitions. The one criterion unique to this competition is that all whiskey submissions must be made from some amount of corn grain. 

Heartland Whiskey Competition judges are chosen for their demonstrated expertise in the craft spirits industry. Every submission is tasted and graded on a point system, and defining characteristics are noted and recorded. Best of State is awarded to the highest-scoring whiskey from each participating state.
