BLACK BUTTON DISTILLING LAUNCHES BLACK BUTTON GIVES BACK, A CHARITABLE PROGRAM SUPPORTING ROCHESTER AREA NON-PROFITS
The Charitable Bourbon Barrel Initiative Kicked Off at the Rochester Cocktail Revival, with Initial Support for the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (JUNE 12, 2024) — Black Button Distilling, the first grain-to-glass craft spirits producer in Rochester, N.Y. since prohibition, today announces the launch of Black Button Gives Back Charitable Bourbon Barrel Initiative, an organized charitable program to support Rochester area non-profit organizations that align closely with Black Button Distilling’s mission of community involvement and sustainability. Black Button Gives Back kicked off this month at the Rochester Cocktail Revival, with charitable support for the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club Rochester.
Black Button Gives Back is an outgrowth and formalization of existing and ongoing charitable efforts. Over the years, Black Button Distilling has chosen a limited number of local charitable organizations to benefit from the bottling of a special single barrel bourbon. This year, Black Button formalized this program by filling six charred new American Oak bourbon barrels with their Four Grain Bourbon. These barrels are branded with the charitable organization’s logo and will age on display in Black Button’s production area and are visible to guests while on tour of the facility. The barrels will age for a minimum of three years and will be bottled when Black Button’s master distillers determine the bourbon is ready to bottle. A portion of the proceeds of these barrels will benefit the chosen partner organizations.
“Black Button has been so incredibly blessed to be supported by the whole of the Rochester community,” said Jason Barrett, Black Button Distilling Founder & President. “Giving back to organizations that we feel are an impact on our local social and cultural fabric, gives us a great sense of hometown pride,” he said.
The first beneficiary of the 2024 Black Button Gives Back program is the Cancer Support Community at Gilda’s Club as announced at this year’s Rochester Cocktail Revival. This bottling is a 121 proof expression coming from barrel #848, featuring a special Rochester Cocktail Revival themed label. The barrel the bourbon came from was also donated to the Cancer Support Community for use as a silent auction item.
Additional organizations benefitting from Black Button Gives Back are as follows:
- Mended Little Hearts of Greater Rochester
- Golisano Children’s Hospital
- Ugandan Water Project
- American Lung Association
- Genesee Land Trust
