The 2015 American Craft Spirits Association awarded Black Button Distilling with a bronze medal in the contemporary gin category for its Citrus Forward Gin.
“This competition is important because it’s the only distilled spirits competition in the country where master distillers judge each other’s products,” said Jason Barrett, owner and head distiller of Black Button Distilling, in a statement. “To see our hard work and our products appreciated by our fellow industry members is one of the highest compliments I have ever received.”
Located at 85 Railroad St., Black Button Distilling is Rochester’s first grain-to-glass craft distillery. The Black Button Gin has subtle hints of juniper with an orange zest overtone, officials said.
The American Craft Spirits Association is a trade group representing the U.S. craft spirits industry. Its purpose is to promote and protect U.S. craft spirits producers, according to officials.
“We look forward to continuing this work at Black Button and bringing more products to the competition in the future. I’m so proud of my whole team a Black Button and all the work that they do,” Barrett said.
