Bourbon may be our first love here at Black Button Distilling, but gin is a close second! So much so that we have two of the five Gin Guild members outside of the United Kingdom right here at our distillery. Started in London in the 1600s, the Gin Guild promotes and encourages commitment to excellence in gin distillation.
Starting with an ultra-refined wheat-based spirit and infusing an alluring blend of botanicals creates an exotic citrus experience that will have you coming back for more. If you have never been a fan of the strong ‘tree’ flavor of gin, we encourage you to give gin another chance. It will put a zesty twist on a classic Gin & Tonic, but is refined and smooth enough to be used in a Gin Martini.
Named “The Official Gin of Summer” by Food and Beverage Magazine, the rich and juicy orange delivers a bold fruit taste and is a perfect match for the New York State Cascade hops and delicate notes of juniper. Citrus Forward will add a unique character to any cocktail.
Our Citrus Forward Gin can capture the hearts of the strongest gin critics, even those that are sure gin is just not their spirit.

The Black Button Team suggests using Citrus Forward in a classic Bee’s Knees cocktail; just add lemon juice and honey syrup (1:1 honey to boiling water), shake with ice and pour — perfect for porch sipping on a hot summer day.

In April 2017, our very own Jeff Fairbrother, in recognition of his role in gin production, was welcomed into the Gin Guild as a Warden Nominated Rectifier, only the 4th American to be installed in this prestigious organization. The Gin Guild is an international not for profit, member funded gin industry that promotes and encourages commitment to excellence in gin distillation and industry custodianship of the gin category. It was incorporated by the historic London based Worshipful Company of Distillers, who themselves were incorporated by Royal Charter in 1638, and which has been involved in the distilling industry ever since.
American Dry Gins are made to explore a more complex aromatic element using traditional botanicals that complement and balance each other. Our use of Cubeb Berries and Chamomile give a unique twist to this classic spirit, creating a Gin that would be right at home here in New York or across the pond!

Our Lilac Gin blooms brilliantly once a year in limited quantities. Made each spring as a complement to Rochester’s rich festival and floral history. Each flower petal is steeped, distilled, and recombined to create a light and delicate flavor.
Enjoy our Lilac Gin in a sweet and aromatic cocktail such as an Aviation or Highland Park. Relish in the warm and happy feelings of Spring with our favorite Lilac Gin cocktails. Our Lilac Gin has subtle hints of juniper, coriander, and other botanical components that make this spirit highly sought after. Make sure to get yours before we run out.

Since 2015, we’ve been making our Lilac Gin to honor the heritage of our home in Rochester. In 2019, we decided it was time for our second home in Buffalo to get an homage to its roots too. Loganberry has been around since the 1800s and has won over the hearts of Buffalonians in the form of a Loganberry drink. Our gin takes that sweet berry everyone knows and loves and turned it into a gin sure to delight.
What’s a Loganberry you ask? It’s a real thing, we promise. Loganberries are a hybrid made from accidentally crossing a raspberry and a blackberry (so the story goes).
